Chicken Adobo

Just so I have it somewhere besides in a stack of papers in my recipe book. (And because it’s so very good.)

  • 3 cloves crushed garlic
  • 20 chicken pieces
  • 8 tbsp soy sauce (1/4 cup)
  • 4 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1 tbsp or less sugar
  • pepper
  • bit of salt

Get it boiling/simmering then put to medium heat until cooked through.

Serve with rice (especially the good, sticky Rooster brand rice) and vegetables. (This is an authentic Philipino recipe — straight off the boat, as they say — from our old neighbour and friend.)
