Sickness Update
Friday, November 27th, 2009So I’d say I officially have the flu. Luckily, it’s not one of those completely floor you, laying in the bed for a week flues. The stomach bug, which turned into lightheadedness, is now headache, cough, and nasal congestion. But, because I’ve been feeling so weak that I have to lay down every time I’m up and around for a half an hour, I haven’t been overexerting myself. So that’s helped keep this whole thing from getting worse.
Everything got kind of overwhelming for a few days there. But on Wednesday night a neighbour brought us supper and insisted we return her dishes to her dirty, which helped so much. Yesterday I got up and had a shower and then laid down for a snooze from 9 to 9:30am, so I’d be up for taking the kids to the mom’s group here. A couple of the pastors from our church in Winnipeg came by for coffee in the afternoon, and that was just enough incentive for us to tidy up the place a bit — things like wipe the counters, move the (still!) dirt pots onto one corner of the counter, clean the toilet, and vacuum the cheerios and exploded stuffed animal insides off the floor.
All that to say that, even though Marc and I are still sick and it doesn’t really feel like we’re getting better, things aren’t horrible here. We have just enough energy to make it through the days. And thanks to a half an hour of energy spent on the trailer yesterday, the place isn’t completely disgusting anymore (and I can watch a movie later and fold all the laundry I’ve been throwing into the machines and then on top of the machines when they’re clean). When Marc’s done in class today we’re going to go into Winnipeg with the two little kids to a few places we need to get to. A couple of these places aren’t open on Sunday, and the ones that are open on Sunday are way too busy on Sunday, plus on Sunday we’d have one more kid to keep happy while we go from place to place. Funny how two kids seem so easy when you have three! And a little energy seems like a lot, when you’ve had zero for a week.
Hope you guys feel better soon!
Keep pressing through - I’m in my 6th week, and apart from a little coughing are virtually back to normal.
