Twice Mice, Too Much Poo & the Rest is Nest
Monday, November 30th, 2009It’s turning into a horror movie over here. We just found some large furry blob in the bottom drawer of the drawers the mice have been getting into. One of them was getting all cozied up for winter, with rice and little bits of popcorn all collected in there. That furry blob was so very disgusting. Marc took the drawer outside and threw all the contents into the garbage.
All I can say is “good-bye $70 table cloth from India.”
And now Marc is armed with his gloves and will check if the same thing (or worse) is lurking in our master bedroom closet, where all of my clothes are stored — in an open wire, stackable shelf because there is no room for dressers in our room.
Lord give us strength!
We could really use some encouragement at this point. Over the next day or two we’ll have to go through the other side of the kitchen and they’ve also found their way into our big catch-all cupboard with all of our cleaning supplies, lightbulbs, kleenex boxes, kids’ crafts, etc.
Lord give us strength!
It DOES end.
After washing and drying all our laundry twice, after 4 visits from the exterminator, I think we might just be free of bedbugs. And since cleaning out our entire apartment, we might be free of mice (for now at least).
There is an end!
(Now watch me jinx us with this post…tomorrow I’ll wake up to bedbugs and mice…)
Oh, Johanna. I really hope it does end for you!
I’m going to sleep better tonight knowing that they haven’t set up camp in my closet. They just really like our kitchen.
I’m sorry I don’t have any words of wisdom to offer you but I’ve never had to deal with mice (I’m thinking that has something to do with the fact I’ve always had 42 cats in my house).
But I do hope that this saga ends for you sooner rather than later and that you can come out the other side with your sanity intact
As I have said earlier, I wished I could help you, does the custodial department or other department have an exterminator on campus? I hope things will get better for you. It will come to pass.
I remember having mice in my kitchen cupboards at my second apartment in Saskatoon. Lots of throwing away cardboard boxes and learning about TUPPERWARE. I put everything in hard, sealable containers–did everything I could to make my place mice unfriendly. It took a while, but I think they must have found a place next door or something that welcomed them. But you sure do feel invaded. Thinking of you guys.
Melody knows the anti-mouse technique.
There’s nothing wrong with picking them up in your fingers when dead BTW. Just was your hands afterward and all will be well (note to Marc ;)). We’re always having to get rid of mice, both dead and living, brought in by the cats.
Some needed encouragement:
1 You live in a field, hence field mice, you are not under the judgment of God.
2. Be encouraged that you will never live in a trailer again for the rest of your life.
3. Be encouraged that they are mice and not rats.
4. Be encouraged that your husband is a warrior of great valor.
5. You will laugh about this some day.
Don
Oh you guys. What a nightmare. ((((HUGS))))

Twas the night before CHRISTMAS, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a MOUSE.
The stockings were hung “very high” off the floor,
Just in case, heaven forbid, there were a “few more”.
Hold that thought, and have a very merry CHRISTMAS, I believe it’s with the folks in PA.
By the way, I dare you to stretch your part of the project,
(A River of Memories), from four to six pages of your thoughts and memories, and add a couple of pages of your favorite pics.
If you have any green ink in your computer, now would possibly be the time.
I, wouldn’t take nuthin for my journey, “now”, how about you?
Or as Jake would say “Nothin but FINE”, and Job had nothing on Jake.
Please give your Mom a big hug for me. She’s favorite sister, as you well know.
Jessica says “hi” to Madeline.
Love ya.
