The five of us are on our own here today. It’s actually been better than I expected, being away from our families while seeing so many families who are together down here. We’re trying to make the day special in small ways: driving home from Winnipeg taking a different, back road (we actually saw a house that was a total island because of the flooding!), buying some wine, roasting a chicken with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce (I may even attempt a lemon meringue pie), a scavenger hunt around campus for the kids leading them to their Easter baskets waiting in the bus stop, an Easter craft or two, and a movie together. Really, it all feels like it has very little to do with what Easter’s all about. But I guess we’re just making it a little celebration of the love we have as a family, another day to try and live the life Jesus came for us to have.
