Summer Vacation

Saturday we head out on our summer vacation.  If you’ll recall, last summer our vacation consisted of four days in small town Saskatchewan.  And it was awesome.  Last year we hit some of the western part of the province.  And this time we’re going south.  South, south, south.  Pretty much to the US border, but I don’t think we’ll cross.  I hate waiting…

We’ve been figuring out how to hit all of the scenic drives, points of interest, and all of the “largests” in all of the towns along the way.  And it’s been hard for me to plan because I’m so unfamiliar with that part of the province.  Keep in mind, we’re driving 2 hours south of Regina.

I’ve got a cabin booked near Lake Diefenbaker for part of our trip north.  But I need a place to stay down south.   As luck would have it, my dear distant cousin, Maryanne‘s, husband hails from Coronach — one of our stops along the way.  He suggested we stay at the Country Boy Motel in Coronach and not the Coronach Hotel.  Good to know.

But I just talked with Sulemine Bile, the owner of the Country Boy, and he does not have a double room available on the night we need.  (I’m assuming because the big Outlaw Days will be on the day before we get there.  And that’s probably pretty wild.  The phrase, “What happens in Coronach, stays in Coronach” comes to mind.)  Or it could be full because Maryanne’s husband Chris pointed out all of the towns around that part of the province and, as he pointed to half of them, said, “this one doesn’t really exist anymore”…

But I’ll find something.  I do have a few more options.  And, do I dare say this… Big Beaver is one of them.

Looks to be a fun trip.  Lots of pictures to follow, don’t worry.

I’m from southern Sask, from several of those towns that ‘don’t really exist’ anymore…Cardross, Crane Valley, Ormiston. You guys could stay with my parents either on their farm or at the church manse in Ormiston! Ha! (I’m kidding, but you would be more than welcome!!) Saw Marc at KidzFest yesterday and almost stopped him to say hi before realizing he doesn’t know me! Ha!!! Take care! 😉

Hey Carissa. How’s the baby?! Do you still recommend having four children? 🙂

I saw a blog reader’s wife at KidsFest, but don’t know her husband. I was curious to know what he looked like, though. Funny this blog reading, where we know people but don’t know them.

And thanks for the list, Maryanne. I just booked in at Country Flavour B & B — we’ll have separate bedrooms, breakfast, and we’ll save $30. So it should be good!
