Sweet, Windy Memories

We got back this afternoon from our week-long vacation.  Good, good times.  Vacation posts to follow.  But I have to show you this one, taken Wednesday afternoon, down 20 km of gravel and 10km of farmer’s field, to one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen:

Family at Diefenbaker 2008

That’s Lake Diefenbaker in the background.

And the reason Madeline is covering her face?  It’s because, as I was taking Olivia out of the car, a sheet of paper flew out, and Madeline was panicking that it was the paper she had just decorated with dinosaur stickers.  Marc went chasing after it when it first came out, but there was actually a very steep cliff 4 feet from where we were standing, and I yelled at him to “STOP!”)  It turns out it was Luke’s dinosaur picture.  And when I told the boy that his paper flew out of the car, he asked me several times how we could “stop the windy”.

This picture totally captured the memory of that afternoon.

Click on it to see up close how beautiful the landscape is behind us!  (Marc showed me how to do that!  Hooray!!)

Welcome back! I’m so glad that the vacation went well. And Chris and I took a bunch of pictures of Lake Diefenbaker, too, to demonstrate how much it looks like the ocean around where we live.

I like that “stop the windy” comment. I always feel as if I am going to blow away when I am down there.

I love these photos and the memories that are captured in them. It’s amazing the things you discover in little old saskatchewan. I could swear that you were standing on the coast of Ireland!
