Get Down Tonight

The semester is officially in full swing here.  It’s strange because last week I was talking like it was the beginning of the semester, and suddenly it feels like we’re running out of time. Marc did a post last night about the stress he is feeling. I could tell right off the hop this semester, that Marc was stressed. I really don’t like it when Marc’s stressed out; it seems to go against the very nature of “Marc”.

And for me, while the on-line class I’ve been taking is going very well and I can easily keep up with reading and assignments, I got the syllabus for an intersession class I was thinking of taking at the beginning of March. The class is Psychopathology. (“Psychopa-what?!” It sounds like some unit they have on CSI!) But the class looks very interesting. The problem? All of the assignments for that class are due on April 5th. One week of straight 9 to 5 classes, and then four weeks to complete three major assignments. I just need to decide if I can get my three papers for my on-line class mostly done in the next few weeks (while reading 500 pages of Psychopathology texts before the class starts), so that I can just focus on Psychopathology in April.

Can I do it? Do I want to do it? That is something I’ll have to figure out. It will mean the loss of almost all my free time. And, seeing as Marc has pretty much lost all his free time, maybe we can just spend our nights studying together. That wouldn’t be so bad. We may be in survival mode for a little bit. But sometimes we function better in survival mode, and appreciate everything around us all the more.

And maybe we’re feeling the stress more these days for other reasons. It’s funny how your surroundings affect you. My mood and energy level instantly picked up after I cleaned the house on Monday. So I’m thinking if Marc will just take out the trash, he might perk up a bit too. Of course there are other things that we could do together to keep our combined spirits “up”. How does that song go? “Do a little dance… make a little love… get down tonight.” I guess our version will be “Take out the trash… Hebrew translation… get down tonight.”

Sooo funny! I think you CAN do it Dixie (the intersession course!), and I think you’d love it! 🙂 And psychopathology definitely sounds like a unit on CSI! 🙂 Hee hee!!

    ha, this was cute.

also, last night I decided that I’m almost making it a game to see how long I can go without tidying. I mean, I’m not, but sheesh! I still haven’t technically finished unpacking my suitcase from when I visited! at night I put the suitcase on the floor, and in the morning I put it back on my bed and out of the way. last night I didn’t even take it off the bed! I also had a dinner party on Saturday and while I have run the dishwasher once, I didn’t empty it. so, I take clean dishes from the dishwasher, use them, then put them on the cupboard in amongst the wine and beer bottles from last weekend. ridiculous! tonight, though. tonight I will tidy! I promise! because you’re right — your surroundings DO definitely affect you. it’s been driving me nuts.

If you think taking out the trash will make Marc perk up them I’m glad it him married to you and not me! In the nicest possible way, of course.
